GABON ILLEGAL STAMPS
2013
Information and Reference of Counterfeit Illegal Stamps for Gabon that date 2013
Online research shows that the first counterfeit illegal stamps in the name of Gabon (Republique Gabonaise) were produced in 2006. Although Gabon is a
member of the Universal Postal Union, up to this time (January 2020) they have never formally posted a UPU circular denouncing any of them. We are working
toward having this done soon.
The following images are of counterfeit illegal stamps produced in the name of Gabon dating 2013. Please remember that the producers of these illegal stamps are not only greedy,
they are crude and sometimes disgusting which is the nature of these people.
To find out what stamps are real and legitimate for Gabon visit the UPU WNS website and look at the Gabon section.
The Universal Postal Union WNS website
I have found the Colnect online catalog to be very helpful as well.
The Colnect Online Catalog for Gabon
Check out their Illegal Stamp section as well. There are many listed there including many new ones not listed on my site.
The Colnect Online Catalog for Gabon Illegal Stamps
I have found the Stampworld.com Catalog to be very helpful as well.
The Stampworld Online Catalog for Gabon
Or use a respectable catalog like Scott or Stanley Gibbons. Do not listen to these dealers trying to convince you they are something
other than illegal stamps.
You will find the styles and designs of the following illegal stamps completely different.
Here we go!
All of the following illegal stamps can be found as imperforates. Many are found as color proofs and many fake First Day Covers have been produced as well.
Many times now (2020) the souvenir sheet sets are separated and are sold individually. Many times the stamps have been removed from the
souvenir sheets. All of these "tactics" are used to avoid detection by UPU circular descriptions and/or experts like myself.
Sellers that call these "private", "locals", "Cinderella's", "unauthorized" are deceiving you. They are counterfeit illegal stamps produced by a stamp dealer
that is bent on ripping you off! Some sellers state "we offer them because they are on the market". Well how about you use a different dealer
because that seller is "on the market"? If the stamp societies, auction sites and all other venues kicked these sellers off of their sites
then they would have to comply or lose their ability to sell anything.
The following images are free for the use of all to use to alert the public to them. If anyone wants to make a public list of users on eBay, Delcampe
and elsewhere who are selling these issues....fine by me since the UPU, PWMO and others appear to have given up or have not been updated in years.
If you have purchased any of these stamps from a dealer or if that dealer offers them, you should avoid that dealer! You will
only be supporting illegal stamp makers who are only ripping you off.
2013
According to the WNS system six stamps are registered to have been issued in 2013. The Colnect catalog lists nothing. The Stampworld catalog
lists two of the stamps and two souvenir sheets.
The Scott catalog lists one silver souvenir sheet as number 1097 after which there is a large numbering gap between that issue and issues
dating 2014. There is a note reading, "Three additional stamps were issued in this set. The editors would like to examine any examples.".
Indeed, I bet they would like to see them as several contain real gold and silver!
Some are being sold on the venues but the sellers are only mainly selling the issues without gold or silver on them and asking extraordinary prices
for them claiming them to be extremely rare. Let us try to clarify which are really the rare ones.
According to the WNS system two of the issues are just the stamps without silver or gold on them.
Here are images of them. I would not consider them extremely rare as some dealers are trying to portray them. Some are known to "hoard" the stock
when it was issued. It is obvious who they are when you look at who is selling them on the venues pretty much "exclusively" in numerous sales.
Gabon 2013 Albert Schweitzer Hospital Centennial 250F From Sheets
Issued July 6, 2013 Printer is Cartor
For the 500F value there is an error on the WNS system. It states "real silver" in the subject area when you can see there is no silver at all on the stamp that
is imaged. This need to be corrected.
Gabon 2013 Albert Schweitzer Hospital Centennial 500F From Sheets
Issued July 6, 2013 Printer is Cartor
Now it gets interesting. We have four different souvenir sheets. Two are silver and two are gold. The differences being two have simulated silver
or gold and the other two have real silver or gold. I will show each so you know. All can be considered rare. Most likely the simulated silver and gold
issues not so rare as these dealers wish to portray them as. Let's see the quantities issued!
Again we have error on the WNS system as this type with simulated silver is not described as such in the subject section. It says nothing which needs to be corrected.
Noting this is from the souvenir sheet listed as Scott catalog number 1097.
Gabon 2013 Albert Schweitzer Hospital Centennial 3000F From Souvenir Sheet with Simulated Silver
Issued July 6, 2013 Printer is Cartor
It is very difficult to discern the difference between the simulated and real silver stamps from the images provided but you can see it if you look closely.
The gold ones are easy to tell. This image of the real silver stamp you can see difference at the top large piece of silver as there is more of the very light blue
reflection on the top edge. Many other differences you can see as well now that you know this. At first I thought they were the same images until closer observation.
The WNS system states in the subject section that this is real silver.

Issued July 6, 2013 Printer is Cartor
The gold stamps are easier to compare as images. This first one is the simulated gold stamp which the WNS system states in the subject section.

Issued July 6, 2013 Printer is Cartor
Finally the 5000F with real gold which is stated in the WNS system subject section. Much brighter yes?

Issued July 6, 2013 Printer is Cartor
Here is an image of one of the souvenir sheets with the presentation folder. The dealer wants 165 euro for it and does not specify clearly if
it is the simulated or real gold. Beware!

Hopefully this helps to clarify what was issued both to you and to the stamp catalog editors.
It is therefore understood that any stamp dating 2013 in the name of Gabon other than the above issues is a Counterfeit Illegal Stamp!
In 2013 production of counterfeit illegal stamps in the name of Gabon for some reason virtually stopped. I found very little offered in searches for the year.
Here is what I found.

This artist die proof has the signature of the artist on it. Perhaps someone can recognize the signature and identify this artist?

In 2014 production of counterfeit illegal stamps in the name of Gabon returns.
