MOZAMBIQUE ILLEGAL STAMPS
MOCAMBIQUE ILLEGAL STAMPS
2002
Information and Reference of illegal stamps for Mozambique made in 2002
In 2002 the British counterfeit producer really gets going in producing counterfeits in the name of Mozambique. Both Stamperija and IGPC produce a massive
glut of abusive stamps that flood the stamp venues to this day in 2022. Just to collect this one year of Mozambique stamps will cost you an arm and a leg
to obtain. Then what would you have? A garbage pile collection that will never sell for even half of what you will pay for it. Yet, one of many reasons
that sadly the stamps of this time era for Mozambique should not be collected.
Here again, are recommended sites to use for reference.
As I stated on the introduction, the WNS system is short on what is real. Listing the 2002 Stamperija and IGPC issues a mistake. It ends at 2005, namely because
Stamperija gained control again in 2007 and all of the stamps produced by Stamperija for Mozambique fall completely short of the qualifications to be
listed in the system.
The Universal Postal Union WNS website
I have found the Colnect online catalog to be very helpful. Sadly because of the glut of abusive issues it is a pain to go through all the pages.
The Colnect Online Catalog for Mozambique
Check out their Illegal Stamp section as well. It is upgraded as of 2023 and shows counterfeits that may be missing here.
The Colnect Online Catalog Illegal Stamp Section for Mozambique
I have found the Stampworld.com Catalog to be very helpful as well but there are problems. Again, because of the abuse many of the pages are extremely long.
They are listing some of the illegal stamps there as if they are ok simply because one rouge catalog continues to list them. The 2001 World cup Soccer Sheet for one.
The Stampworld Online Catalog for Mozambique
Again, I say the major catalogs should stick with the rules they portray in not listing abusive, overproduced stamps that have no evidence of postal
usage. Sadly in the recent years they are breaking their own rules and ethics by listing them. At the rate Stamperija is going, Scott catalog will have to add
another catalog just to cover them! Shame on the editors for bowing down to abusive stamp agencies. More than likely their are some "bad apples" within the editing
departments who are getting kickbacks for getting the garbage listed!
Here we go!
Many of the following illegal stamps can be found as imperforates and as color proof sets as well. Many exist on fake First Day Covers too.
Most times now (2021) the souvenir sheet sets and sheetlet sets are sold individually. Many times the stamps have been removed from the sheetlets
and souvenir sheets. All of these "tactics" are used to avoid detection by experts and savvy collectors.
Sellers that call these "private", "locals", "Cinderella's", "unauthorized" are deceiving you. They are illegal stamps produced by a stamp dealer
that is bent on ripping you off! Some sellers state "we offer them because they are on the market". Well how about you use a different dealer
because that seller is "on the market"? If the stamp societies, auction sites and all other venues kicked these sellers off of their sites
then they would have to comply or lose their ability to sell anything.
The following images are free for the use of all to use to alert the public to them. If anyone wants to make a public list of users on eBay, Delcampe
and elsewhere who are selling these issues....fine by me since the UPU, PWMO and others appear to have given up or have not been updated in years.
If you have purchased any of these stamps from a dealer or if that dealer offers them, you should avoid that dealer! You will
only be supporting illegal stamp makers who are only ripping you off.
2002
I found for 2002 a real mess as to sorting out what stamps are "real" as in abusive stamps and what stamps are counterfeit. I found abusive issues that
were reproduced on deluxe sheets without authorization as perforated and imperforate varieties. I found these illegal deluxe sheets made in color proof
sets as well. I found a whole set of illegal stamps that are almost identical to the "issued" stamps except in theme. I will start with those first.
NATUREZA DE AFRICA COUNTERFEITS
In 2002 one set that was "issued" and I put issued in quotes because they are abusive stamps, that were mainly only sold through the agents websites
and distributors, was called in Portuguese the "O MUNDO DO MAR" issues. The meaning in English is "THE WORLD OF THE SEA". The set is large and features Sealife. In
2002 the producer created an even larger set titled "NATUREZA DE AFRICA' which translates obviously to "NATURE OF AFRICA". When you compare the two
sets you can see they are exactly the same in styles and even denominations. Yet one set is listed in the catalogs, and one is not. The reason why
the nature set is not listed is because it was rejected by the Mozambique postal authorities. They are shown in the Colnect Illegal stamp
section.
This set and the following are the reason Stamperija lost the contract to produce stamps for Mozambique in 2003. Because of the charade Stamperija did in placing anything
that was rejected by Mozambique on the open market and in producing unauthorized illegal deluxe sheets, color proofs and other things in cahoots with the British
counterfeiter, Mozambique probably kicked him out for breach of contract. Evidence shows that Mozambique got tired of the abusive productions by IGPC as well. In
2003 you can simply see it. Sales for Mozambique stamps in 2001 and 2002 searches show thousands of offers for the junk and then in 2003 it drops to only
a few sales. In 2003 Mozambique drops from hundreds of "issues" to one issue! This shows rejection of both agents.
So, in 2002 Stamperija produced this massive set that was obviously rejected. I note some are inscribed "20th World Scout Jamboree Thailand 2003". I wonder how
many people have been ripped off who collect Scout related stamps. I place them in an alphabetical order because there is no "order" to illegal stamps like this.
I also note none are offered on the Stamperija websites.
First, here is an image of one of the authorized World of the Sea souvenir sheets for comparison.

Now, here are the unauthorized counterfeit illegal stamps. Noting the descriptions are in order for the counterfeit stamp and then the souvenir sheet when they are different
topics. Also noting the illegal use of the Scouts and Rotary logos and others, which is possibly another reason for rejection. Not authorized to use by the Scouts nor rotary
International! During these years, these logo's were placed on tons of illegal stamps produced in the name of many countries.
All of these are in the Colnect Illegal stamp section now.

All of these being sold mainly by shady dealers and of course the Montero "crew". We have the proof through sales on Delcampe and Hipstamp.
I would avoid them and the dealers who sell them like the plague.
NUDE PAINTINGS
Our second discovery is a group of counterfeit souvenir sheets featuring nude paintings. They were printed by Mayfair International Ltd. as they are exactly
the same style as the "issued" 2004 set which are documented to be printed by Mayfair International on the WNS system. These are also shown in the Colnect
Illegal stamps section now.

FAMOUS PAINTERS AND THEIR PAINTINGS
In 2002 the Mozambique postal authorities rejected all of Stamperija's 2002 series of famous painters and their paintings. All are shown in
the Colnect Illegal stamps section now! Is this all of them? This is just what I could find at present time. Of course,
all being sold by con dealers mainly on Delcampe.
Some of the "stamps" on these souvenir sheets are from the 2001 series and the year inscription is changed from 2001 to 2002.
Now, what is really interesting (and is the "straw that broke the camels back") is the fact that Stamperija offers them all on their old "official" website!
I have a number of snapshots proving it so if they take down the site entirely, the evidence is preserved. As of May 2022 the "old" website is still running.
What this all proves again is the fact that Stamperija has produced the following series of rejected stamps and rather than destroy them as per any
legitimate contract between postal authorities and stamp agencies, they blatantly have posted them for sale on their "official" website as if they are legal
issues! I found them being offered as 2001 issues in yet another attempt to "hide" them and divert them away from their 2002 status which is inscribed on
all of them. Because they were rejected and because no catalog lists them as legitimate, they are deemed produced without authorization and are therefore
counterfeit illegal stamps!
This proves Stamperija has produced illegal stamps and has illegally placed them onto the stamp market and deceptively offers them to this day
as if they are "official" legal stamps on their own website. So any denial of doing so, which I have seen, is a complete lie. Trust in such a company by
anyone is not recommended. The UPU should have investigated this long ago.

As I have stated earlier, the "new" Stamperija website has blocked the linking of 2001 and 2002 issues. Basically in an attempt to make it look
like they were not under contract with Mozambique during those two years. What they did, blows all creditability of them being a trustworthy stamp agent.
Yet, Mozambique takes them as their agent again in 2009 through 2022. Mozambique has announced closure of their postal system in 2022.
On Stamperija's "new" website, the 2022 year is bloated with a mass of obviously never needed nor used abusive stamps! A last ditch attempt to milk YOU of your money.
ILLEGAL DELUXE SOUVENIR SHEETS
Next and finally we have the deluxe sheet scam. It appears it started with the "issued" Marilyn Monroe sets.
Most of the following have been identified by the owner of Avion Stamps as "privately produced". The statement used is:
"Note this item is privately produced and is offered purely on its thematic appeal"
When you see any stamps that have this style claiming to be deluxe sheets of "issued" stamps in the name of Mozambique, run!!

Both of the Marilyn Monroe sets were issued at the same time so which is the first is not an issue.
All of these sets are offered mostly broken up into individual counterfeit sheets and the asking price is high.

There are many more. These clowns did this all the way through 2015 with "issues" made by Stamperija!
It is in 2003 that this Montero really becomes involved.
