BURUNDI ILLEGAL STAMPS
2013 and 2014

Information and Reference of Illegal Stamps for Burundi Dating 2013 and 2014

Flag of Burundi

In 2013 Stamperija continues to produce abusive stamps in the name of Burundi. The Eastern European counterfeit producer continued production of counterfeit illegal stamps in the name of Burundi.

To start, here are recommended sites to use for reference. As I stated, the WNS system is short and incomplete on what is real. The stamps that are shown should be researched further before you buy them.

The Universal Postal Union WNS website

I have found the Colnect online catalog to be very helpful. Sadly because of the glut of abusive issues in some years it is a pain to go through those pages.

Some of the illegal stamps are shown in their Illegal Stamps section and noted as such. Several years are covered well. Still nothing close to what is out there as you will see.

I have found the Stampworld.com Catalog to be very helpful as well but there are problems. Again, because of the abuse many of the pages are extremely long.

Here we go!

Many of the following illegal stamps can be found as imperforates and as color proof sets as well. Many exist on fake First Day Covers too.
Most times now (2022) the souvenir sheet sets and sheetlet sets are sold individually. Many times the stamps have been removed from the sheetlets and souvenir sheets. All of these "tactics" are used to avoid detection by experts and savvy collectors.

Sellers that call these "private", "locals", "Cinderella's", "unauthorized" are deceiving you. They are illegal stamps produced by a stamp dealer that is bent on ripping you off! Some sellers state "we offer them because they are on the market". Well how about you use a different dealer because that seller is "on the market"? If the stamp societies, auction sites and all other venues kicked these sellers off of their sites then they would have to comply or lose their ability to sell anything.

The following images are free for the use of all to use to alert the public to them. If anyone wants to make a public list of users on eBay, Delcampe and elsewhere who are selling these issues....fine by me since the UPU, PWMO and others appear to have given up or have not been updated in years.

If you have purchased any of these stamps from a dealer or if that dealer offers them, you should avoid that dealer! You will only be supporting illegal stamp makers who are only ripping you off.

2013

In 2013 Stamperija continues to have a contract to print stamps in the name of Burundi. As shown time and again, this agency produces massive numbers of what are known as abusive stamp issues and sadly, for Burundi, this is the case again. For 2013 Stamperija produced 350 different stamps in sets and souvenir sheets decreasing production somewhat. You have to ask yourself, why a country which had a conservative stamp issuing program for several decades, all of a sudden needs this quantity of stamps to be produced. It is now obvious...they did not.

In 2013 one of the Eastern European counterfeit producers continues production of illegal stamps in the name of Burundi. This producer creating numerous sets in a completely different "style" than the British styles. This new type of counterfeits do not have any year dating inscribed on them. A few can sort of be defined by the topic they commemorate. The dating of them then can only be defined through sellers that are selling them past and present.

I note that the criminal producer reduced the number of counterfeit souvenir sheets produced by about 50%. Perhaps sales were not so good. The dating for them again is only by the word of counterfeit stamp dealers which are untrustworthy, so they may not be accurate. There is no "documentation" to follow because they are

That is all the illegal stamps I could find in the name of Burundi stated to be from 2013. There are most likely more of this type.

2014

In 2014 Stamperija appears to have lost the contract to Impressor S.A. to print stamps in the name of Burundi. The reason I say "appears" is because sources have told me Stamperija would use Impressor to print stamps sometimes. This case can be followed in regards to this "practice" by viewing the Republic of Guinea section and looking at the 2000-2002 pages. For Burundi though, the case is not so as on the Stamperija website we see that there are no sales of any stamps dating between 2014 through 2017 which is the years that Impressor inscribed the years for. Therefore, I contest the problems with the Impressor stamps made in the name of Burundi are all on Impressor and not on Stamperija.

Just like Stamperija, only not quite as bad, Impressor S.A. pumps out a mass of stamps. For 2014 Impressor produced 165 different stamps in sets and souvenir sheets. It appears according to the Colnect catalog that again Scott and Stanley Gibbons catalogs do not list them. Michel is the only main catalog listed there and even Yvert is not listed. We see on the WNS system that some have been certified by the UPU for 2014 but the number is only 68 of the 165 stamps produced. Those being "Wild Fauna" stamps. No more Impressor made stamps listed on the WNS system after that, yet we see again, a mass were made for several years after. More on that on the next page.

Apparently (according to dealer statements) the Eastern European counterfeit producer made several more illegal souvenir sheets in the name of Burundi for 2014. Then suddenly stops. It is possible and probable that Impressor (being located in Eastern Europe) has influence over the counterfeit producers there. We can see that these abusive stamp agencies timing and the timing of productions of illegal stamps are in "sync" throughout the years for a number of countries these agents and the illegal stamp producers have victimized.

The counterfeit producer changed the style on a couple of the following illegal souvenir sheets as you can see. It looks like an attempt to make the counterfeits seem more valuable by increasing the number of "stamps" on the souvenir sheet.

Here the criminal producer tries to simplify things a little by having the "style" of the previous type souvenir sheets of 3 incorporated with the "style" of the previous type souvenir sheets of 6 in a single combined souvenir sheet. Maybe the counterfeit souvenir sheets of 3 were not selling so good on their own?

That was all I could find of the Eastern European "brand" of counterfeit illegal stamps in the name of Burundi for 2014. The criminal stops production right when Impressor gains the contract for Burundi. These are not the last illegal stamps this producer made though in the name of Burundi.

In 2015 the now notorious counterfeit illegal stamp producer in Russia called topnimarka.com appears. This criminal operation will be explained in more detail on the next (2015) page. One problem with this producer is the fact that they produce counterfeit sets and back date them to earlier years. Burundi is no exception to this. The following two sets were made after 2014 and back dated to "look" like they were made in 2014. Beware!

In 2015, Impressor S.A. produces another huge batch of "stamps". The Eastern European illegal stamp producer stops and Topnimarka back dates more sets! Also the British counterfeit producer makes another small attempt.
