Honduras stamps printed by Format International Security Printers Ltd.

The Format International Security Printers Ltd. did indeed design several stamp issues for Honduras in 1979. These were never issued and aside from the artists proofs and such I do not believe they ever reached the full production stage. What was produced and issued was the 1980 IYC issue and the Rowland Hill Death Centenary stamp issues. Because of political turmoil within Honduras, the sets were issued very late in December 1980. They should have been issued in 1979.

The Format Printers name is not cited in Stanley Gibbons nor are the stamps noted as being lithograph. Be it by design or error the following three sets are cataloged the same way with no mention of the printers. Solid evidence which proves that Format printed the stamps is imaged for the first two sets. The third set is by logical deduction by the perf size (perf 15) which was used by Format in the first issue shown and not by other printers. The fourth and final set is noted correctly in Stanley Gibbons.
