ILLEGAL STAMP SELLERS LISTS

Information and Reference of illegal stamp sellers according to U.P.U. Circulars

The following lists have user names of sellers who are online selling counterfeit illegal stamps. I created these lists because there appears to be no updating of the lists generated by the Philatelic Webmasters Organization since 2012. The problem is now extremely bad. Online sales on eBay, Delcampe, Amazon, ebid, and others have been completely ignored and there are thousands of lots of these illegal stamps being offered and sold to you, the collector without letting you know what they really are. Some sites are not enforcing their own stated policies in regards to these illegal stamps. Hopefully soon I will help to make changes that will permanently fix this problem.

According to the UPU, "an illegal stamp is one that carries the name of a legitimate country or territory, but was not produced or printed by the postal administration of that country, and is not valid for postage anywhere in the world."

Many of these sellers use deceptive wording to avoid detection. They call them "Private Issue", "Cinderella", "Locals" or "Labels". They are none of these. Some avoid putting the year of issue. Some won't even use the countries name in their listings. The lists below are not complete by any means. The names listed are those who came up on simple searches showing just how big the problem is now.

Illegal Stamps are created and produced by stamp dealers and others that have had nothing to do with the country named on the stamp and were never authorized by the postal system of that country to produce them! You might as well get a magazine and cut out the pretty pictures and stick those in your album and write a country name and value on them with a pen. That is what they are worth!

Illegal stamps are counterfeit goods and as far as I and many others are concerned they should not be sold. Period! In reality by allowing them access to collectors in any form at all is showing disrespect to the country that has been plagued with them, the U.P.U. and most of all to the stamp collecting community as a whole. Some of the illegal stamps are crude or pornographic in nature, yet some sellers post them outside of the adult only categories! Online sites are only helping and enabling the criminals who create them and are therefore more at fault than the criminals that produce and sell them simply because they will not enforce their own stated standards and rules. Hopefully in time we can change this.

The sellers listed here will be deleted from the list only when the owners/publishers will give concrete proof that they have changed their policies in the domain of selling illegal stamps online. The same goes for the sites that host them.

These lists were generated by simple searches for victim countries like "Benin" or "Congo" or "Ivory" or Ivoire" in the "Stamps" category and using the U.P.U. Circulars and other resources to compare with lots being sold online. These same dealers are selling illegal stamps in many country names. This is an ongoing battle that they do not realize they are going to lose in the end. Some of these dealers are the biggest on the sites. If you want to help stop the sales of illegal stamps then as a buyer, let them know you know they sell illegal stamps and are therefore untrustworthy and that you will not be buying anything from them until they stop selling all of them. Let the sites know that you are offended by them and may deter from buying anything on their site because they allow such practices to be done until they enact ways to either stop the sales permanently and force the sellers to stop or remove them permanently.

UPDATE 2020

After completing various new country sections numerous prominent sellers of illegal stamps on eBay for those countries have come up on the searches. They have been added as they are found. Also noting quite a few have been removed from Delcampe and a number from eBay which is a good start. All on these lists are being watched and are targets. You do not want to be listed here.

Auction sites that host these sellers on this list should go through every one of their listings and either delete their listings if they contain illegal stamps or force the really bad dealers out completely as they will never stop. Large volume sellers of illegal stamps need to be removed no matter how "big" they think they are. Some avoid detection by not using country names and so forth to avoid detection. Noting several of these sellers are appearing on more than one site. As explained above it is a simple task to find them. It took me one hour to generate the eBay list using Benin as a search term back in 2016. There are many others that can be found using topical terms and other means. These are generated from the U.S. site. There are sellers that will not show there if they do not offer worldwide shipping. Therefore other country sites have some users not listed here.

It is recommended not to buy anything from these sellers because they sell illegal stamps. Whether they know they are counterfeit stamps or do not know, either way makes them sellers who are not to be trusted in regards to selling postage stamps of any kind. There are many more sellers out there that are not on these lists that you can buy real stamps from. Many of these dealers who sell illegal stamps mixed with real stamps are only selling "junk" stamps or abusive topical stamps made by rouge stamp agents. Many over price anything real that they are selling. Do the research! Avoid being ripped off!

EBAY SELLERS OF ILLEGAL STAMPS

Ebay is working to try to curb sales of illegal stamps. There is still much work to do though in weeding out the criminal sellers. Many of these sellers are still dealing the illegal stamps on other sites. Some continue to list the same exact illegal stamps that have been closed on eBay and Delcampe on Hipstamps and eBid using the same exact images and descriptions. They now have no excuse for offering them anywhere. So far as of 2021, none have even attempted to get their name off these lists. This is because they are corrupt and dishonest dealers of which many have been ripping off collectors for decades. If they are listed here the proof that they are selling more than a couple counterfeit illegal stamps has been found and it is best to avoid dealing with them.

EBAY SELLERS OF THE FORMAT FORGERIES

Due to the massive selling of the forgeries made of stamps produced by the Format International Security Printers, I have also started naming names of prominent sellers of the forgeries in these lists as well as of the year 2023. Denial of the fact they sell them cannot be disputed as I have retained snapshots of their sales as evidence for their user name being listed here. Some are using the fully denounced by the Michel Catalog editors "Michel Sonderedition Karibische Inseln catalog" created in 2017 to try to legitimize them. Some claiming them to be in the online Michel catalog which you can easily see that they are not listed...
I have found numerous sellers of the forgeries use images in their sales of the genuine stamps and when ordered, they send you the forgeries. Because of this now massive problem, it is not wise to trust any seller of the effected stamps and you should therefore closely examine what you receive using my detection pages as reference before accepting them. Should you detect them as the forgeries, return them and leave feedback alerting other buyers about what they are doing via the feedbacks. Just like the illegal stamp sellers, these people are ruthless and cunning. In many cases....they are one and the same as you can see many listed in both the illegal stamp sellers list as well.

primus-gladiator (also known as tertius-gladiator) selling the fake Nevis inverts and most likely many others. Uses the fake catalog to legitimize claiming it to be from the online catalog. Due to proof the seller is selling the fake inverts it is most probable that the seller is also sending the fake normal (perforated and /or imperforate) stamps and showing images of the genuine issues to fool you. Not to be trusted!

DELCAMPE SELLERS OF ILLEGAL STAMPS

Delcampe has done some excellent work in rooting out these criminals. Some continue to come back using new accounts. It is a constant battle.
Don't let these dealers fool you. They are counterfeit illegal stamps....period! Avoid them! This list is being added to as ongoing research is exposing other dealers who sell counterfeit illegal stamps in the name of other countries. If they are found to be a dealer intent on ripping you off....they are posted on this page. You may recognize some of the users who have been removed. Perhaps even knowing their personal websites. Avoid anything they sell anywhere. In the future you will be glad you did.

Hipstamps continues to host numerous illegal stamp dealers. They continue to knowingly allow it as of 2021.
Some of these major sellers of them are moving into the site just recently Hipstamps management!! Apparently the management is more concerned about making profits than fixing the problem and removing known counterfeit stamp selling dealers!
