Information and Reference of illegal stamps dating 2007 and 2008 for the Comoro Islands

Although there are many discrepancies within all of the following sites, for the most part, to find out what stamps are real and legitimate for the Comoros Islands you can first go to this website and view their catalog of stamps which shows you what was issued from beginning to present time according to a representative for them.

The comores-online.com Catalog of Stamps

The site only shows issues up to 2007 (probably because the abusive stamp agent Stamperija gained contracts in 2008 forward) and has not been updated since 2010.

You can visit the UPU WNS website and look at the Comoros section. Sadly, we see a huge gap between 2007 to 2019 caused by the damage caused by Stamperija.

The Universal Postal Union WNS website

I have found the Colnect online catalog to be very helpful.

The Colnect Online Catalog for Comoros

Some of the illegal stamps are shown in their Cinderella section and noted as such. Nothing compared to what follows on my site.

I have also found the Stampworld online catalog to be very useful as well.

Or use a respectable catalog like Scott or Stanley Gibbons. Do not listen to these dealers trying to convince you they are something other than counterfeit illegal stamps.

Here we go!

2007

In 2007 the Comoro Islands issued 12 stamps in two sets. Therefore any stamp in the name of the Comoro Islands dating 2007 other than those two sets is a
COUNTERFEIT ILLEGAL STAMP!

In 2007 the British producer disappears and a new form of illegal stamps is introduced on to the stamp market. The style and design points directly at the Eastern European counterfeiters. The following two sets imaged are not commonly seen now in 2021 as in 2007 the stamp market and the postal authorities of the Comoro Islands had become much more aware of the illegal stamp problem due to the circulars being released and the delisting of certain issues in the major stamp catalogs. These criminals still were bold enough to continue productions with these two sets.

2008

In 2008 Stamperija gains their first contract to be the stamp agent for the Comoro Islands. A bad move on the countries part as after the illegal stamp fiasco caused by the British counterfeit producer the complete abusive practices of Stamperija over the next four years virtually destroyed the Comoro Islands reputation in the stamp market as a viable collecting entity. From being a conservative stamp issuing entity after the Impressor S.A. fiasco of abusive issues in the 1990's, the market could see that they did not learn their lesson in permitting contracts to yet another known abusive stamp producing agency.

In 2008 the number of stamp issues produced in the name of the Comoro Islands jumped from the previous years conservative number of 12 stamps in two sets to 140 stamps in souvenir sheets of 6 and 1. The high values jumping to incredibly high denominations all geared to rip off collectors. All of the abusive issues can now be bought for pennies in comparison to the asking prices at the time. The dealers selling them now are desperate to get rid of them as we can see the asking prices are now running for the 2008 issues at $1.00 or less for a matching set of one souvenir sheet of 6 and one souvenir sheet of 1. Of course we have the "stubborn" dealers asking much more but their sales records show they are not selling at the prices asked. Therefore, a bad investment no matter how you look at it and it is the case over and over again with stamps produced by this agency which in the majority of cases, you cannot even find the stamps in the country they are made for.

In 2008 the European counterfeit producers, emboldened by no real retaliation for the previous 2007 counterfeits, proceeded to produce a massive number of counterfeit illegal stamps in the name of the Comoro Islands. Probably made before Stamperija was firmly in control as we can see that ended in 2009.

Many of the images were of poor quality that I acquired from the comores-online.com website. I could not find available anywhere online except one. All of them are verified to be illegal on that site. It was a "new" edition to that site and after that, the site has not been updated since. These images give you a general awareness of what to avoid should any of these criminal stamp dealers try to peddle them to you.

As stated above, Stamperija gained their first contract with the Comoro Islands in 2008. Here is an image of the official Certificate of Authenticity published by the postal authorities of the Comoro Islands in 2008 verifying the authenticity of the Stamperija issues.

Comoro Islands 2008 Official Certificate of Authenticity Published by the SNPSF

In English it states:

"Certificate Of Authenticity

The Societe Nationale des Postes et Services Financiers (SNPSF) has the honor to announce to catalog publishers, traders and collectors "The Means of Locomotion" issue with the first issue date of October 01, 2008.

These stamps have the power of postage both inside and outside the country."

Did they realize the full extent of the issues made by Stamperija? The huge increase in the number of stamps produced? Indeed all of the sets made are related to the topic of "locomotion". Still jumping from the conservative 12 stamps issued in 2007 to the whopping 140 stamps issued in 2008 should have been a warning sign of what was to come with this agency.

In 2009 Stamperija again shows their true colors and intent. Here is another image showing a Certificate of Authenticity published by the SNPSF verifying the first section of issues produced by Stamperija and "issued" on January 7, 2009. Just 3 months after the glut of issues made in 2008.

In this "series" alone 126 stamps were produced. In March of 2009 just two months later, Stamperija produced another glut of abusive stamps with a total of 138 stamps. In July of 2009 Stamperija produced yet another glut of abusive stamps with a total of 111 stamps. Then in September of 2009, Stamperija produced yet another glut of abusive stamps with a total of 138 stamps. In October of 2009 Stamperija produced another production of abusive stamps with a total of 148 stamps. Finally, in December of 2009, Stamperija produced another production of abusive stamps with a total of 125 stamps plus one sheet with eight singles and a matching souvenir sheet of one! This totals 788 individual stamps in one year for this small country!
Is this not total abuse of the stamp market? In no way did this country need even 5% of the stamps that were made! In my opinion a company thinking they will lose the contract at any time, pumping out as much of this junk as possible for future sales to collectors only. In other words...ripping you off for years to come!

I wanted to show one image of one of the souvenir sheets created by Stamperija in 2009. Does it not look similar to the illegal stamps made by the British Producer in 2005? As if mocking all of us once again as is shown in the styles and types of stamps this agency has produced in the name of other countries especially in recent times.

It has been compiled that the Comoro Island stamps should be avoided by collectors for stamp issues produced from 1975 forward. It is agreeable that certain sections should be avoided but not all of them. I contend that the issues produced between 1975 through 1977 except for the overprinted issues should be avoided. I contend that from 1978 to 1987 indeed the issues mostly do not relate to the country but were handled in a more conservative manner by the Islamic Republic and are therefore a viable collectible. Issues from 1988 through 1999 to be avoided are the Impressor S.A. issues proven to be abusive. Finally of course the Stamperija issues made between 2008 through 2012 again because of the obvious abusiveness. You can do this research yourself using the major catalogs and see the patterns throughout the years with this country. After 2011 all is good as you can see once again the Comoro Islands is a conservative stamp issuing entity.

It appears that even the European counterfeiter was stopped in 2009. No more illegal stamps could I find until one dating 2011. It is similar to the British producers styles yet similar to the Eastern European producers style as well. In 2015 the evil Russian company called Topnimarka.com arrives on the scene. Known for back dating counterfeit issues this company has done so for several sets in the name of the Comoro Islands back dating them to 2010 and so forth. I will show them on the next page.

Another ghoul associated with illegal stamp dealers in Taiwan and Italy and such produced a mass of counterfeits dating 2015 and 2016 as well. A style of their own and a constant persistent plaque on stamp venues like eBay and Delcampe. Get rid of one and they pop up using a different user name like flies. Yet another reason these criminal dealers should be rounded up with legal actions within their home countries. This will not happen until the victimized countries unite and take forceful action directly against these criminals.

The next page will start at 2010 through 2014.....
