You can also use a respectable catalog like Scott or Stanley Gibbons. Do not listen to these dealers trying to convince you they are something other than illegal stamps.

In 2004 when Benin produced circular 30 they did not know that there were more illegal stamps that were being circulated than what they listed. This has occurred for many of the victim countries. To correct it I have researched them all using the major catalog listings and the WNS system as reference to what was officially issued.

Here we go!

Many of the following illegal stamps can be found as imperforates and as color proof sets as well. Some exist on fake First Day Covers too.
Most times now (2019) the souvenir sheet sets and sheetlet sets are sold individually. Many times the stamps have been removed from the sheetlets and souvenir sheets. All of these "tactics" are used to avoid detection by UPU circular descriptions and search terms.

Sellers that call these "private", "locals", "Cinderella's", "unauthorized" are deceiving you. They are illegal stamps produced by a stamp dealer that is bent on ripping you off! Some sellers state "we offer them because they are on the market". Well how about you use a different dealer because that seller is "on the market"? If the stamp societies, auction sites and all other venues kicked these sellers off of their sites then they would have to comply or lose their ability to sell anything.

The following images are free for the use of all to use to alert the public to them. If anyone wants to make a public list of users on eBay, Delcampe and elsewhere who are selling these issues....fine by me since the UPU, PWMO and others appear to have given up or have not been updated in years.

If you have purchased any of these stamps from a dealer or if that dealer offers them, you should avoid that dealer! You will only be supporting illegal stamp makers who are only ripping you off.

2019

From 2012 forward Benin stopped filing their official stamp issues with the WNS system. The reasons why are unclear. Possibly because they did not see the system helping to stop the proliferation of fake counterfeit illegal stamps being produced and sold in the name of Benin. Possibly for financial reasons of which it is costly to to list each issue on the WNS system. For whatever reason(s) the WNS system cannot be used to find the newer official issues for Benin.

The Colnect online catalog is your best bet now for online access to verify the official issues. We still have conflicts with some of those as many are being listed by Michel and/or Yvert but not listed by Scott catalogs or Stanley Gibbons. There definitely needs to be some kind of unification of agreement between all the major catalogs in regards to the official issues for Benin.

In 2019 according to the catalogs for Benin no official stamps were issued.

I note that some of the user names will change as they are the same people using different accounts. One of many deceptive "tactics" these people use.

We are beginning to reveal what I call "the network". This is a network of dealers worldwide who are directly connected with the producers or are the producers themselves of illegal stamps. Because of the blatant selling of the most recent counterfeit illegal stamps by these sellers for years now in my opinion they should be rejected by the stamp community as a whole in all regards. We should not buy anything from them nor even allow them to remain on the online venues that give them worldwide access to collectors. In other words...let's shut them out of the market!

Our Russian counterfeit dealer/producer is now dominating the market for production of Benin counterfeit stamps. Who can stop them? Benin postal authorities can.....
The evidence and proof to go after these people is all over the internet.

At the time I acquired the image for this counterfeit illegal stamps set they were being exclusively offered by globalphila right at the beginning of 2019. This shows evidence that the eBay user is the producer and distributer of them as a ton of past (and preserved I might add) evidence has been obtained on this user showing the timing and patterns of distribution to other users. I rearranged the souvenir sheets from the original image used by this dealer on eBay.
