All imaged illegal stamps are for the year 2001.

Many of the following illegal stamps can be found as imperforates and on fake First Day covers.
Most times now (2018) the souvenir sheet sets and sheetlet sets are sold individually. In some cases the stamps have been removed from the sheetlets and souvenir sheets. All of these "tactics" are used to avoid detection by UPU circular descriptions.

If you have purchased any of these stamps from a dealer or if that dealer offers them, you should avoid that dealer! You will only be supporting illegal stamp makers who are only ripping you off.

2001 (Unauthorized Printing)

There were only two sets described in the Scott Catalog for 2001 unauthorized printings. These were the last sets in the unauthorized section. All the rest of the stamp sets and souvenir sheets from this point on are described as illegal stamps.

2001 (Illegal Stamps)

In the U.P.U. Circular 2 it describes the "impressionists" series. At the time it was written it was probably not known that more than the three artists sets described had been produced. In all nine different artist sets were produced by the illegal stamp printers.

Circular 2 has an error in the description of this illegal stamp set. It states two sheets have 50000 values and one has 100000 value. It should say the sheetlet has 50000 value and the two souvenir sheets have 100000 values.

Again the description is wrong in Circular 2. It states there are two souvenir sheets for this set. You can see there are three.


2001 Butterflies Scouts Baden Powell Illegal Stamp Sheetlet of Nine

The 2001 Butterflies set is not noted in Circular 2 nor in the Scott Catalog. Does not matter. They are obviously illegal stamps.
