ERITREA ILLEGAL STAMPS
2005

Information and Reference of illegal stamps dating 2005 in the name of Eritrea

Flag of Eritrea

Eritrea has always been a very conservative stamp issuing entity. In 2005 Eritrea did not issue any stamps.

To find out what stamps are real and legitimate for Eritrea you can visit the following online catalogs. I found that Eritrea listed their 2002 and 2003 stamp issues in the UPU's WNS system but then stopped so it is not a good resource to verify genuine stamps from to present day stamps.

I have found the Colnect online catalog to be very helpful.

Check out their Illegal Stamp section as well. It is far from complete but will help you verify many as well.

Here we go!

Many of the following illegal stamps can be found as imperforates and as color proof sets as well. Many exist on fake First Day Covers too.
Most times now (2021) the souvenir sheet sets and sheetlet sets are sold individually. Many times the stamps have been removed from the sheetlets and souvenir sheets. All of these "tactics" are used to avoid detection by UPU circular descriptions.

Sellers that call these "private", "locals", "Cinderella's", "unauthorized" are deceiving you. They are counterfeit illegal stamps produced by a stamp dealer that is bent on ripping you off! Some sellers state "we offer them because they are on the market". Well how about you use a different dealer because that seller is "on the market"? If the stamp societies, auction sites and all other venues kicked these sellers off of their sites then they would have to comply or lose their ability to sell anything.

The following images are free for the use of all to use to alert the public to them. If anyone wants to make a public list of users on eBay, Delcampe and elsewhere who are selling these issues....fine by me since the UPU, PWMO and others appear to have given up or have not been updated in years.

If you have purchased any of these stamps from a dealer or if that dealer offers them, you should avoid that dealer! You will only be supporting illegal stamp makers who are only ripping you off.

2005

In 2005 it appears the Eastern European producer and his criminal distributors decided to try their hand at ripping off collectors. They produced two sets in 2005 on the topics of the Pope and dinosaurs. Now in 2021 some of the same criminal dealers continue to sell these counterfeits showing us there is an endless supply of them after 16 years!

Let us see who is currently selling this garbage on the main stamp venues with simple search for "eritrea 2005", "eritrea pope" and "eritrea dinosaurs".

It proves to be interesting to see who is selling these. I note the main culprits in Eastern Europe are more involved in selling these 2005 counterfeits whereas most of the Western involved have "disappeared". Yet we can see that several of the British distributors are still involved with these as well. So the question is:
was it the British or the Eastern European producer that made them? In theory it appears they were in collaboration at the time as in most cases the British distributors like the ones shown do not sell Eastern European produced counterfeits and vise versa. Interesting yes?

The following counterfeit illegal stamps and the dealers who sell them should be avoided and shunned by all.

I will show each counterfeit souvenir sheet individually as this is how most are being sold now.

2005 Prehistoric Animals Dinosaurs Counterfeit Illegal Stamp Souvenir Sheets of 1

This set is so scattered across the world that finding all of the counterfeit sheets belonging to the set was difficult. I am not sure if this is even all of them.

Eritrea 2005 Prehistoric Animals Dinosaurs Counterfeit Illegal Stamp Souvenir Sheet of 1 (Sheet 10)

These were the only two counterfeit sets I could find dating 2005. All counterfeit production of illegal stamps in the name of Eritrea appears to have stopped after 2005 and did not start again until 2010 when some very crude counterfeits began to appear mainly being produced by the Eastern european producers.
